The products available come under the general title of

“DETERGENTS”

DETERGENTS:

A detergent is defined as “something that cleans“. It consists of a
head and taiI , rather 1ike a tadpo1e . The head 1ikes water and is
responsible for the cleaning power. The tail consists of a fatty
substance which dislikes water and so attaches itself to the dirt, oil
or grease. When the surface is agitated either by mopping or
machining the dirt is held in suspension with the detergent. Instead
of the dirt clumping together to form a solid mass it’s held in small
pieces because the soap forming heads are electrically charged and thus each piece of dirt repels it’s opposite number, keeping it in
suspension at all times. This is rather like bumper cars at a fair
ground - the cars collide and then quickly move away in a different
direction.

Detergents used for cleaning fall into 4 categories:—

1. Neutral (Non-alkaline)

2. Alkaline

3. Acidic

4. Solvent Based Detergent Wax Removers
